HUMAN SPIRIT

DAREARTS Children’s Foundation
Exhibition at Bata Museum, May 2003 and Royal Winter Fair, Nov 2005, Toronto.

Originally created in 1996, the 9-piece Human Spirit Collection was first exhibited in 1997 in London, England, at an International Glass exhibition at the London Glassblowing Gallery, Covent Garden. In 1998, it was also exhibited at Asprey, crown jewellers to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II in New York City.

In 2001, the collection was featured on TVO’s, Studio 2, and CBC Radio “Sounds Like Canada”. That same year, DAREarts Children’s Foundation, purchased the “life values” based collection, with the support of the late Judith Teller and Lombard Insurance.

In 2004, the collection was exhibited by DAREarts for the first time at the Bata Museum in Toronto, and in 2005, at Toronto’s Royal Winter Fair where  a Human Spirit Garden was specially created to showcase the collection to over 30,000 students from the Toronto GTA. The collection has since toured many schools across Ontario, and has been the inspiration for the DAREarts Aboriginal First Roots program in Northern Ontario, teaching life values to native youth which parallels the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers.
